Who we are
This website is run by Qalam and Noor Publications (“Qalam & Noor”, “we”, “us”), Plot No. 30, Royal Compound, Noor Apartments, 2nd Floor, Semmozhi Street, Sholinganallur, Kancheepuram – 600 119, Tamil Nadu. This policy explains how we handle your personal data when you visit our website, place an order or sign up for our emails. We process personal data in line with the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 and the Information Technology Act, 2000.
What we collect
When you order: your name, email address, phone number, delivery and billing address, the items you buy and your order history.
When you sign up for emails: your email address and a record of your consent to receive marketing emails and of your agreement to this policy.
When you contact us: the details you choose to share, such as your name, email, phone number, order number and message.
When you browse: basic technical information such as your device, browser and pages visited, collected through cookies and similar technologies.
We do not collect or store your full card or UPI details. Payments are processed by our payment providers, who are responsible for keeping that information secure.
How we use it
To process, deliver and support your orders, including sending order confirmations and shipping updates.
To reply to your questions and handle replacements, refunds and complaints.
To send you marketing emails about new books, launches and offers, only if you have agreed to receive them.
To keep our website secure, prevent fraud and understand how the website is used so we can improve it.
To meet our legal, tax and accounting obligations.
Marketing emails and your consent
We only send marketing emails if you tick the box agreeing to receive them. You can withdraw your consent at any time by clicking “unsubscribe” in any email or by writing to qalamandnoor@gmail.com. Withdrawing consent does not affect order-related messages, which we need to send to fulfil your order.
Who we share it with
We share personal data only as needed to run our shop: our e-commerce platform (Shopify), payment gateways, courier and logistics partners, and our email service provider. These partners may only use your data to provide their services to us.
We may disclose information if required by law or by a lawful request from a government authority. We do not sell your personal data.
How long we keep it
We keep order records for as long as needed for the purposes above and as required by Indian tax and accounting laws. We keep your email address for marketing until you unsubscribe.
Children
Our books are for children, but our website and services are intended for parents, guardians and other adults. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children. If you believe a child has shared personal data with us, please contact us and we will delete it.
Your rights
You may ask us for a summary of the personal data we hold about you, ask us to correct, complete, update or erase it, withdraw your consent, and nominate another person to exercise these rights on your behalf. To make a request, write to qalamandnoor@gmail.com.
If you are not satisfied with our response, you may complain to our Grievance Officer (below) and, after that, to the Data Protection Board of India.
Cookies
We use cookies that are needed for the website to work (for example, to remember your cart) and, where enabled, cookies that help us understand how the website is used. You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings; some features, like the cart, may then not work.
Security
We use reasonable security practices to protect your personal data. No method of transmission over the internet is completely secure, but we work with trusted providers and limit access to your data to those who need it.
